Łódź maintains multifaceted cooperation with the objective to promote our city on the world forum, stimulate economic and cultural exchange between Łódź and European organisations, and to bring other cultures closer to the local public.
Since 1991 Łódź has been a member of the Eurocities – an organisation embracing large European cities. Łódź was the first Polish city host the meeting of the Eurocities’ Environmental Protection Committee coupled with a conference on solid waste management. Łódź’s membership of the Eurocities facilitated the adaptation processes following Poland’s accession to the European Union, and currently is a valuable source of exchange of good practices with European cities.
As of 2005, our City has been member of the Association of European Textile Collectivites ACTE. The Association represents and protects the interests of the territories with significant presence of the textile, clothing, leather, footwear industries. ACTE embraces more than 100 members, local governments, non-government organisations, research centres, and trade unions.
Since 2005, the Łódzkie Region’s Brussels Office has been an active participant in the annual October event known as the European Week of Regions and Cities "Open Days". „Open Days" is the most important cyclical event in Brussels that provides a platform for exchange of experiences and good management practices between local and regional governments. The event is jointly organised by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Regional Policy and the Committee of the Regions in collaboration wit European regions. Łódź is an active participant in "the world of European cities and regions” and shares its experiences and achievements in such areas as the economy, culture, sustainability, etc.
